Vision

At St. Paul’s Bloor Street, we envision:

A church made alive by the power of the Holy Spirit.

A city made new by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

A people made whole by the grace of God.

Vision

Mission

As followers of Jesus, we commit to:

  • Worship – Gathered worship is central to who we are as followers of Jesus.
  • Christian Formation – Being formed as Disciples to follow Jesus in all aspects of life.
  • Community Connection – The building of healthy, authentic relationships is integral to a practical faith.
  • Witness – The proclamation in word and deed of the evangelical reality and truth of Jesus.
  • Stewardship – As followers of Jesus we are entrusted with the right care of all the resources that we have been loaned.

Mission

Values

“First Things First”

The gospel comes first in all we do. We believe in the supremacy of Jesus Christ, and the sufficiency of Scripture as the foundation of our life and ministry.

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures…” 1 Cor. 15:3

“We Before Me”

We work as a team by supporting and honouring each person’s part to play in God’s mission.

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” 1 Cor. 12:12

“Whatever It Takes”

We are passionate about what we do because excellence honours God and inspires others.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,…” Col. 3:23

“All In!”

We are not spectators in God’s kingdom; as disciples of Jesus Christ we are committed to spiritual growth and active participation.

“No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

“Growing Young”

We strive to prioritize and integrate children, families, youth, and young adults into church life and ministry.

“He called a little child to him and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matt. 18:2-3

“Take It To the Streets”

We proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed, sharing the gospel with others and inviting all people to find and follow Jesus.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matt. 28: 18-20a

“Dream Big”

We have a unique role in the wider church, and we are called to lead with bold ideas and innovative ministries.

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Phi. 4:13

“Love Does”

We are blessed by God in order to bless others through hands-on acts of hospitality, justice, and mercy.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34

“Back to the Future”

We are the recipients of a rich heritage and legacy which we must steward into an even brighter future.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Phi. 1:6

“Unity in Diversity”

We celebrate and cultivate diversity in all its forms as we seek to reflect the mosaic of our city while prioritizing our unity in the gospel.

“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” Acts 2:4

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.

Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.

He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
